About Samuel DeWitt Proctor Conference, Inc

The Samuel DeWitt Proctor Conference, Inc. (SDPC) is a national, faith-based organization dedicated to social justice, human rights, and advocacy for marginalized communities. Named after the renowned theologian and civil rights leader Dr. Samuel DeWitt Proctor, the conference seeks to empower thought leaders, activists, and grassroots organizations to work toward racial justice, equality, and positive social change.

Challenges

As the SDPC grew, so did its need for inclusive and multilingual communication. The organization was creating awareness and educational videos on a wide range of critical topics—human rights, discrimination, systemic racism, and social movements. These videos played a vital role in educating communities and amplifying the voices of significant African personalities, including leaders from various African tribes.

Their stories, achievements, and struggles were pivotal to inspiring social change within these communities. However, SDPC faced the challenge of the African diaspora being linguistically diverse, with community members speaking many different languages, including Swahili, Afrikaans, Portuguese, and Spanish, among others. Many platforms that hosted videos lacked adequate support for multiple African languages, making it difficult to communicate these important stories to their global audience effectively.

SDPC needed a platform that could handle not only video storage and sharing but also transcription and translation capabilities in these languages to ensure accessibility for all.

Solution

To overcome this challenge, SDPC partnered with VIDIZMO EnterpriseTube. The platform allowed SDPC to centralize their video content and manage it with ease, ensuring that their vast library of educational and awareness videos could be archived, shared, and accessed by their communities. What made VIDIZMO particularly valuable to SDPC was its ability to provide transcription and translation services in multiple African languages.

With the platform, SDPC could now upload videos of significant African leaders and their stories, ensuring that viewers, regardless of their linguistic background, could understand and engage with the content. The platform’s AI-powered transcription and translation features enabled them to provide subtitles in key African and international languages like Swahili, Portuguese, Spanish, and Afrikaans.

Moreover, VIDIZMO’s archiving capabilities allowed SDPC to preserve and organize video content from their conferences, making it available on-demand to activists, educators, and community members. By making educational materials available online, SDPC ensured that those who could not attend the live events could still benefit from the wealth of knowledge shared.

Impact in a Nutshell

  • With transcription and translation support in Swahili, Afrikaans, Portuguese, and Spanish, SDPC expanded its reach to a more inclusive audience.
  • VIDIZMO’s archiving feature enabled SDPC to offer on-demand access to educational videos from their conferences.
  • By sharing African leaders' stories, SDPC preserved key cultural narratives and strengthened the voice of the African diaspora.
  • SDPC amplified its human rights advocacy by breaking language barriers, advancing their mission of racial equality and social justice
